downloading problems
When I attempt to download Audacity 1.2.x on my putor which is 2000 XP, as soon as I click on the download button, I immediately freeze up, and have to go completely down to the desk top. I am sorry as I am not putor savvy, so need my hand held as we go through with how to do it. Otherwise, can you give me simple instructions on what to do? I can understand the lack of interest in helping me because of my lack of knowledge, so am thanking you in advance. Pipnmip
Re: downloading problems
Go to http://audacityteam.org/download/windows
and "Click" on the "Audacity 1.2.6 installer" link.
If the download does not start automatically, follow the instruction on screen.
(Internet Explorer may want to block the download, so watch out for any warning messages that it may pop up).
Save it somewhere that you can easily find it, such as your Desktop.
When the download is complete, double click on the downloaded file to install Audacity.
Then go to http://audacityteam.org/help/ and try out some of the tutorials which will help you get to know Audacity.

Re: downloading problems
Thank you Stevethefiddle! I now have Audicity loaded and am going over to read directions. I have some cassette tapes, 8 track tapes, 45 and lp records, plus reel-to-reel tapes I wish to transfer over to digital. Over 3000 oldies and really would like to play them when driving in my car. So once again thank you very much. I hope this will work.
