Exported recording sounds bad only as Mp3

Post by autoguy » Fri Oct 08, 2010 5:13 pm

When saving and exporting a edited sound file, such as extending the length, it saves and sounds fine as wav file. But if I export it as a Mp3 it sounds like it was recorded in a barrel. Running Windows 7 with Aud Beta 3.1 Everything seems to work great except for that. I can convert the wav file and plays ok. I'm wondering if it has to do with the Lame plugin? Thanks

On Win 7 you should be using Audacity 1.3.12 and not Audacity 1.2.6

In the Export dialogue, select MP3 as the format, then click on the Options button and use "Preset = Standard"

Thanks, that did the trick. Still learning this program but I think it's great. I have to create background music for football video hilight film for our high school and this program is a life saver for me. Thanks again.
