Recording a tone down (A-G)

Post by fuzzy » Fri Apr 25, 2008 1:33 am

Hi Audacity Forum

I'm fuzz and I'm new here and have a question. I've been using this program for a while recording into a cheap Shure microphone but the quality was not what I would like. So I upgraded to a Behringer Condenser Mic that needed phantom power. So I bought the mic and then bought a M-Audio USB Pre Amp w/ phantom power and it came with a couple of programs and drivers. I installed it all and used it but it was not as user friendly as good old Audacity and only allowed 4 Tracks (Get Real) unless you buy an Update. So i decided to try Audacity with it and it records fine but with a little delay when I play (which I can live with) but it is one step down. So when i record a A it is a G. Now that is a big problem. So I was wondering if it had anything to do with the playback speed or something.

Regards

I've heard of this problem with another brand of USB audio interface. It seems that there is a mismatch between the sample rate requested by Audacity and the sample rate served up by the audio device.

If you have your project rate set to 44.1 kHz, then try switching it to 48 kHz. If set to 48 kHz, try switching to 44.1 kHz.

Could you let us know if this works, and also what version of Windows you are using.
