downloading audacity

i have tried without success to dowload audacity. each time the text menus are giberish like russian or middle eastern. i need english. what do i do?
You need the dialogue box Edit>Preferences>Interface - and set the language in the drop-down to English.
If the commands are also currently non-English then
Edit is the second command in from the left
Preferences is the last selection in the dropdown
Interface is the 6th (tab across in 1.2.x - or selection down in list in 1.3.x)
English is th 11th selction down in the list
