Audacity Recording with SigmaTel
O.K., I do not have a microphone, and I was trying to get Audacity to record directly off my sound card. I've looked at : http://audacityteam.org/wiki/index.php? ... bar_Issues, but it didn't help. The only options in Audio I/O and the Mixer toolbar are Rear MIC, Microphone and Line In. I tried finding an updated driver, but when I went to my model of PC, they didn't even have my sound card listed. Does anyone else have a SigmaTel sound card, or any solutions? I could post my dxdaig if asked.

Only post pages of diagnostics is somebody asks for them. Most times, they only tell us "There's Something Wrong." We guessed that.
Are you on Vista by any chance? Vista closed a lot of the handy loopholes that used to exist--like recording from the soundcard output.
I have a license for Total Recorder. That allows me to record from anything in any direction. See if there's a license available for your Windows version. That's the guaranteed path to success. There may be other free or shareware software packages available for a good search.

You don't say "laptop", so assuming that it isn't, buy yourself a PCI soundcard. On-board sound cards rarely give good results, so a PCI soundcard is an excellent upgrade for any kind of audio work. It doesn't have to be expensive, but don't go for the cheapest you can find either.

O.K., I was over looking at the Dell Forums, and apperently my sound card does not support stereo mix. Wow. Last time I buy from SigmaTel.
I'll be getting a new sound card, then.
