Record over existing track
hi guys. i am currently using audacity to record a multi-track song. The song has so many parts that i have to record each part in a new track. At the end i end up with at least 15 or more tracks. Is there a way i can record a new part on an already existing recorded track so i dont end up with so many tracks? Thanks!

The way that you are doing it now is the correct way.
By having multiple tracks, you can adjust the level, and the pan position of each track individually. You can also add effects such as reverb, dynamic compression, equalisation, and many other effects to each track individually, which provides you with a huge amount of control over the final mix.
At any time you may select any number of tracks and mix them to a single track by selecting the desired tracks, then using "Quick Mix" from the "Project" menu, however it is generally a good idea to "Export" the individual tracks first as a backup using "Export Selection" (with the appropriate track selected - repeat for each track as required).
When you have finished editing, you should use "Export" from the File menu to create a normal audio file such as a WAV file or an MP3 file. (If you select "Save", you save an "Audacity Project" which consists of a project file, and a data folder - this is not an audio file and it will not play in a media player).
When you Export your final mix you can use "Ctrl A" to Select All, and all the tracks will be mixed into a single audio file/
