Make a single speaker wav playing in both channel in AC?

Post by Kloppstock » Mon Sep 27, 2010 11:56 pm

Hello, im terrible at finding and interpret myself needed knowledge in manuals
so i wanna instead ask for some direct guidance

i have extracted a wav file from a video in another program, now i have inserted the wav in audacity, and gonna export
it as mp3, i have extracted it from the video as wav to start with cause i wanna balance the sound into both speakers,
you see the video source have only sound in left channel, some guidence suggest that you can get life into the other speaker
by either extract the soundtrack as wav or as a mono mp3, i have done the first this time

what i can conclude after making it wav though, is that there is still only sound from left speaker
is there any feat inside audacity who can bring forward the right speaker, or must i start all over
with a new wav file that as a input already must beign double channel?
and then i wanted only to do this just to encode the wave to Mp3, but im after balance here also

I can at least conclude that the track-bar to left cant do anything obvious
that will make both channels active?

You are correct that the sliders on the left will not make both channels active.

Before we go off on the wrong track -

Which version of Audacity are you using? (look in "Help menu > About Audacity")

Apart from being only in the left channel, does that WAV file play alright? It looks horribly distorted.

yeah it plays fine, well its a VHS-cap so we cant expect the most clean sound
and its a waterfall dripping in the background during the music, perhaps that is
what you see on the EKG screen

anyway..am i ready to listen to the instruction now?

Video Corporation of America. Don't they make tapes that feature naked ladies and gentlemen?

Just checking that you're not using 1.3.12 (you'd be surprised how many people post on the wrong board).
  • Click on the name of the track and from the drop down menu select "Split Stereo Track"
  • Use the [x] button in the top left corner of the empty track to delete it.
  • Select the remaining track with your preferred method (for example, click just below the name).
  • Press Ctrl+D (duplicate track)
  • Click on the name of the upper track and select "Make Stereo Track".
