Audacity Forum

Hi, i have been using audacity to record sermons at church, and now a couple of times after i have recorded and hit the stop button to stop recording, audacity displays a message saying that windows has to close the program. I can't remember the exact words and maybe i can get audacity to do it again to get exact wording but now the challenge is to go through the tempo files in audacity to piece together the recording. Is there an easier way of combining them and an easier way to tell which ones were created for this particular recording?

any help would be much appreciated.

Which version of Audacity are you using? (look in Audacity Help menu > About Audacity)

Almost certainly given the message about temp files you are using 1.2.6 - also it is a known issue that 1.2.6 crashes on Vista when pressing Stop after recording. Upgrade to 1.3.12 for future projects. To recover the temp files, see Crash Recovery.
