Audacity 1.2.x is now obsolete. Please use the current Audacity 2.1.x version.
The final version of Audacity for Windows 98/ME is the legacy 2.0.0 version.

Re: saving audacity file to memory stick
You're not saving a sound file. Audacity does not Save sound files, it saves Projects which involve many files, not just the AUP.
Export a WAV or an MP3 sound file and you can put that on your stick or anywhere else.
If you insist on saving Projects, you have to include, at minimum, the AUP file and the _DATA folder and everything in it. Both of those have to exist in the same folder for the Project to play later.
If you used music files in your show, then you can't move the Project at all without much more complexity. Export a WAV file.

Thanks, Koz. That was helpful. I am sure I will have many more questions as I continue working on my project.
