Hi Sanlorenzo,

recovery in 1.2.x is much harder than in 1.3.x. In 1.2 it has to be done manually and is often not successful. In 1.3 ist is automatic (on next startintg up Audacity after a crash) - but even in 1.3 it doesn't always work.

You will almost certainly be much better off using 1.3.12, the latest Beta of Audacity, rather than the now ancient 1.2 series. In spite of the Beta lbbelling it is now very stable (more so than the 1.2 series on most modern computing environments).

I think it will be much quicker for you to re-record the LP and to experiment with Brian Davies' ClickRepair. Don't be put off by it, it is relatively simple to use - and produces almost magical results. You can try Brian's default Click level of 50 - but after some listening tests I set my default declick level to 30 (which I use for all my LP projects).

For Koz
Yes I remember exactly what I called it, in any case the title is still there on the "recent files" list.

For WC
Think I'll follow your advice although with a faint heart.

And what was that name?

Not at all. I'm trying to say the user never explicitly Saved the Project except as a byproduct of closing.
Makes no functional difference to the particular save, Koz, whether you save with File > Save Project, File > Save Project As (*if* you save to the same filename and folder), or after using File > Close or File > Exit.

As I said in my first answer, to find out the name of the _data folder that the .aup file you're opening is looking for, make a copy of that .aup file to be safe, then open the .aup in Notepad and look for projname= near the top. Then find that _data folder and put it in the same folder the .aup file is in.

If you don't have that _data folder but you know where the _data folder you want is, rename that folder to what projname says in the .aup file, then put that _data folder in the same folder the .aup file is in. If that _data folder is now called something else than the .aup file, rename the _data folder to the same name as the .aup file. For example if mylatestalbum.aup says that projname is "myalbum_data", put "myalbum_data in the same folder as mylatestalbum.aup and rename mylatestalbum.aup to myalbum.aup (or the project will fail to open the time after next).
