Recording with Audacity

I used an Ion USB turntable to change my vinyls to digital, stored in iTunes. After opening Audacity and importing from iTunes, I don't know how to get the digital from Audacity to RecordNow, which is my recording software. When I press Record, the cursor moves, but if it's recording, I have no idea where. I can record directly from iTunes using RecordNow, but it doesn't have a volume control and the volume is low. I have gone through the Tutorials and printed everything out, I've gone through FAQ, but no one seems to have this problem and I can't find an answer.

I am totally confused by your posting novice81.

RecordNow as I undestand it is a CD burning program provided by Sonic - mine came bundled with my latest Dell PC - it is not a recording program.

Audacity is a recording and editing program. The normal workflow for LPs would be:
1) record the LP with Audacity
2) perform any necessary edits
3) mark the track breaks
4) export as WAVs or MP3s

To get these into iTunes you can then either load created MP3s into the iTunes library - or use WAVs to burn a music CD (with RecorNow or simlilar) and then rip the CD into iTunes where it will create AAC files (Appl;es iTunes format).

========================

If you are trying to create CDs fro music you have in iTunes already, including stuff you have made with your ION, then you can do that with iTunes itself. Just create a playlist and burn it - you can even use iTunes to print CD liners with track listings and covers.

If you are trying to edit music that is alrady in your iTunes library - if they are in MP3 or WAV format then just open up the file with Audacity - if it's in AAC format you will need to convert it first IIRC iTunes should be able to do this for you.

Maybe you could explain more clearly exactly what it is you are trying to do?

What I want to know is, once my files are in Audacity and are edited, how do I move them from Audacity to RecordNow (or any burning software) so I can burn cd's. Thanks for your help.

Export them from Audacity as 16-bit PCM Stereo WaV files at 44.1kHz - you will probably find it easiest to set your Audacity Preferebcs to work at 4411kHz 16bit.

You may want to break the recording up into tracks first by inserting track labels - and then using Export Multiole to export a set of WAV files.

Then use RecordNow to create a Music CD (NOT a data CD). Use good quality CD-Rs, NOT CD-RWs In RecordNow you can browse for the files you want to burn.

P.S. have a look at the following Audacity Tutorials:
