Can't record my voice while playing another track along?

I want to record my singing voice while the karaoke track is simultaneously playing along in audacity. If I open nothing else and record my voice, I can normally record my voice. But I want to sing along to the karaoke playing at the same time while recording my voice. When I do this, audacity seems to be recording the karaoke track but NOT my voice! :!:

This is what i did:

Step 1, I recorded down a karaoke track into audaicity as my first track. (channels: mono)
Step 2, In preferences, I check-marked the "play other tracks while recording new one". In the recording area, I chose "Microphone". In playback I chose "Microsoft sound mapper". (channels: mono)
Step 3, I pressed the recording button and started to sing with my head-phones on my ears. The karaoke track that I recorded earlier into audacity is playing from the head-phones while I'm singing along.

Now when I playback, the second track that is supposed to be ONLY my singing voice instead plays the karaoke track (a very hissy one) without my voice. It seems like the second track recorded the playing karaoke track and not my voice. :|

*Note, in preferences playback and recording (device), I only have two choices for playback (Microsoft sound mapper, Real tek ac), and three in recording (Microsoft sound mapper, Real tek ac, Microphone)

Please answer ASAP, Thanks.

:( So no one is answering.....still waiting though. I'd like to add that the tool-mixer drop-down bar is completely grayed out, if that has anything to do with it.

There are some horrible GUI's for the Realtek audio device, and they all seem to be different.

Set the recording device to "Real tek ac", then use whichever version of the horrible Realtek control panel/mixer that you have to select the microphone as the recording source.

That's not unusual - it is only available if the device driver supports it, which in this case it doesn't.

Good luck.
