I'am trying to record some cassettes to MP3's using Audacity .I 'am going from the Headphone Jack on my stereo to the Headphone Jack on my PC . I have done this before and it worked .
Now Audacity is NOT picking up the sound of my stereo .
I can however still record MP3's or any other audio that is ALREADY on my PC .
I went through my system volume controls and they are all at the correct levels .
I have tried Microphone , Auxillary , Line In , Stereo Mix on Audacity and nothing .
I dont think it is a problem with Audacity , but that my PC is not picking up the sound .
Any ideas ?????
Thanks

Re: Recording from external source , HELP !!!
That will not work - the headphone jack is an output. You need to connect the output of your stereo to the "Line In" jack socket on your computer. Note also that using the headphone out is far from ideal - you should really use a "Line out" connection. If your stereo does not have a "line out" you may be forced to use the headphone out, in which case, take care not to turn the volume up too high or you will get distortion.Horshack wrote:.I 'am going from the Headphone Jack on my stereo to the Headphone Jack on my PC .
