Alternating Stereo?

I want to record a simple sound so that it plays in one ear then the other and so on. Can this be done in Audacity with just one mic?

You mean a "ping pong" echo?

Yes, but you need to have a stereo show first. You really need to be in Audacity 1.3.12 for intricate editing. Audacity 1.2 is really basic and sometimes it has stability problems with newer computers.

Thanks for the replies. Not sure if I've made myself clear. What I want is to end up with is a wav file that will play a simple tone that will sound only in the left head phone for 2 seconds then sound in the right headphone for two seconds, then the left again for two second and so on? ( called bilateral stimulation) Can this be done in Audacity?
