No Audio playing back

Ok off of a vinyl record I am recording audio and when I play it back in audiacity there is no input audio and the meter is allways at negative and not positive, but when I am recording there is input and output audio, how do I get it so I can hear the audio I recorded back..this is strange as all rest of music works on diffrent programs as far as hearing it goes.
