Audacity Frozen

my audacity is frozen, but i still have the screen up wit my recording... i cant play it, stop it, or save... any help?

Is the computer frozen? How are you posting to the forum?

no, my laptop is ok... audacity program, is frozen, but my file is still up... i didnt exit out

I'm guessing that:
you are using Audacity 1.2.6
on Windows Vista and
this is a really important never to be repeated performance
that you have recorded with a microphone
on a laptop
using the on-board sound card in the laptop,
and the project has not yet been saved.
If that's correct, do a search for " *.au " (without quotes) - you will need to enable searching for hidden files.
You should find a Temp folder with loads of .au files in it.
Locate that file on the hard drive and make a copy of the entire contents.
Force Audacity to quit using the Task Manager.
Restart Audacity - if you are really lucky the project will be recovered automatically.
If anything is different from this assumed scenario, please fill in the blanks.
