ApplicationData Issue

Hello, I'm new to Audacity but I am ok with computers. I finally got access to the "ApplicationData" folder because I got messages saying that Audacity isn't working before it even opens. I knew that Audacity ids supposed to install into program files, and ApplicationData. I looked in program files after I uninstalled it, and it was gone. I checked on ApplicationData and it wasn't installed in the first place! I tried to download version 1.2.6, and it obviously didn't work so I tried to completely remove it from my laptop. Does anyone know where to cleanly install everything and have it working? Any help would be appreciated!
