Audacity 1.2.x is now obsolete. Please use the current Audacity 2.1.x version.

The final version of Audacity for Windows 98/ME is the legacy 2.0.0 version.

Question about the Waveform.

Post by Zameric » Sat Sep 04, 2010 9:12 pm

Hey. I was wondering why the waveform on audacity on my computer only goes between 0.5 and -0.5, instead of 1.0 and -1.0. On another computer in my house that runs on XP, it does go between 1.0 and -1.0. I am running Audacity 1.2.6 on Windows XP sp3.

A great many times that happens when a music pathway overloads or becomes damaged. A great many times it's because somebody tried to push a Stereo, High-Level, Powerful audio signal into the Mic-In of a laptop which is expecting a Tiny, Delicate, Mono microphone signal.

Umm...I'm not using a laptop, I'm using a desktop...

It's not like this is interfering with my using of the software, I just thought it was a bit odd.

What's the show? What are you trying to achieve? How do you have equipment connected? If the first best guess didn't work, then you get to tell us all about your system. We're not going to guess twice. Now we need actual data.
