Fast forwarding through a track

This might seem elementry to most of you but how does one fast forward through a track whil it is running or even when you stop or pause it. The program always goes back to the beginning. And while it is running i can move the slide bar where it says click and drag but the track keeps playing and I can not fast forward through. Seems simple but I can't figure it out.

While the playback is STOPPED, you can click on a track (with the selection tool) to set the playback start position.
You can also zoom in and out using the zoom tools so that you can see as much or as little of the tracks as you want.
