You mean delete the file listings you get when you select File > Recent Files? You don't. Yours is buried in the Dreaded Windows Registry. The Mac people can edit the Audacity Preference file in TextEdit or any text editor and I assume the Linux people have something similar with emacs, ed, or vi.
The newer versions of Audacity will have their own Windows Preference File, but not 1.2. I believe you can't even get rid of it by reinstalling the Audacity program because the preferences do not get damaged when you delete the program. Many people thought they would get a clean start when they reinstall and are horrified to find their old Audacity come back.
