Different Hz and/or float???

Hello, am a new user. Have tried to find answer in documentation without success.

Am putting together a podcast. Main part is Stereo 44100 Hz and 32-bit float. I am trying to to put together an intro that includes music and audio from a YouTube video.

I have imported both files into Audacity. Both are Stereo 22050 Hz and 32-bit float. When I paste them into main part and play, they sound live Alvin and the Chipmunks. Is there some way to adjust?

I will REALLY appreciate any advice. May be something simple. Maybe not.

My guess is that you are using Audacity 1.2.6 and you are pasting the clips with a sample rate of 22050 Hz into a track that is either set to 44100 Hz or already has some audio in it that is at 44100 Hz.
You can't do that. Audacity 1.2.x does not support multiple sample rates in the same track.

1) You don't need to put them in the same track - Audacity is a multi-track editor which means that you can move things around in their own track. Audacity will mix it down to a single track when you Export.
2) You need Audacity 1.3.12 to use multiple sample rates in the same track. Audacity 1.3.12 is a highly recommended upgrade. It can open projects that were made with the old 1.2.x version, but 1.2.x cannot open projects that have been saved by Audacity 1.3.x

Hello, Steve. thank you for info.

So looks like I can download newer version.

Or if I wanted to use the existing version, would I simply create a new stereo track and put the stuff in the different Hz in that. I then would have to align?

Right now, this is really confusing. But once I perform a task successfully, should be able to just repeat the process.

Hello, again, Steve. I put the shorter of the 22010 Hz clips in a new stereo track and used time shift tool to move 44100 stff past it. But when I played, the 22010 stuff still sounded like Alvin and the Chipmunks. As I mentioned, really confused.

Steve, once I download 1.3.12, which I am doing now, would that simply write over earlier version? Thus, when I call up project I am working on, I'll be using 1.3.12?

Thank you.

Hello, Steve. Downloaded 1.3.12. Pasted the 22010 file into 44100 file. Still sounds like Alvin and the Chipmunks. Is there something I need to do?

Thank you.

No, you will have both 1.2 and 1.3 on your PC - which is ok. You can't run both versions at the same time however. (You can delete the 1.2 if you no longer need it.)

And note carefully that 1.2 projects can be opened in 1.3 but not the other way around - and if you open a 1.2 project in 1.3 and then Save it, it will become a 1.3 project.
