Can't remove Vocals

Hey all, sorry for making this my first post. It being a 'help' post and all. But I just got Audacity and have been trying to remove the vocals from a song. However it isn't working. Now before anyone asks, yes I did read the tuts on how to do it and even watched the YouTube video on it. It didn't work. I have tried both methods of doing this and neither have worked. Now, it obviously isn't something I am doing wrong, so it must be with the song. Maybe if someone else tried tinkering around with it, they could figure it out. The song is called Glock & Tech 9's - Tech N9ne.

If anyone has some advise or anything, please let me know. I really want to get this music solo.

The Remove Vocals trick won't work on all tracks and even when it does the results can vary. It only works because vocals are often dead centre in the mix (it will also remove any instrument found there). If the vocals on the track in question are anywhere else in the stereo field you won't be able to remove them.

The well known vocal removal technique only works if the vocal is centre, and the instruments are mostly not centred. It does not usually work with anything that has been encoded as an mp3 due to the way that mp3 mashes up the stereo positioning.

Ohhhh. Thanks Locopomo and stevethefiddle. I guess I just didn't see the whole bit about that. It helps knowing that it was the format of the file that I had and not actualy be my 'intoxication' <|||||)~
