A newbie here. I made a ringtone, sent in to my phone. I saved it in the same folder as the ringtones that I purchased. Same length, file is a little bigger but no problem I think, but when I go to use the rintone for a contact it says " cannot be used as ringtone".

Any ideas?

You need to know exactly what format your phone will accept:
mono/stereo, VBR/CBR, bit rate, etc. then make sure that your new ringtone is in that format.
I think they deliberately make it difficult so that you will buy ringtones rather than making your own.
