Hi All. I'm a newbie. I looked for other posts on topic but couldn't find them. I have Vista with the Audacity Beta. It will not recognize my USB MBOX2 with my studio mic, but records only through the internal mic on my lap top. I've gone to EDIT:Preferences:Devices but the Record options are only Microphone (Realtek High Definition), Microsoft Sound Mapper - Input, and Modem #1 Line Record. Host choices are only MME or Windows Directsound. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
EDIT: added from new post on same subject (now deleted) I should add that I've downloaded and installed the ASIO4ALL driver which some folks thought would help but didn't.
mbox interface?

Re: mbox interface?
If you connect any USB or external device after launching Audacity, you have to restart Audacity before it will see the new device.lcantor wrote:I have Vista with the Audacity Beta. Audacity as distributed does not support ASIO. If you want to use Audacity with ASIO support you have to compile Audacity yourself as described here:
http://audacityteam.org/wiki/index.php? ... _Interface
However the first step is to see if Audacity will recognize Mbox in the first place. Audacity does not specifically support Mbox. Mbox is designed for use with its own Pro Tools software. To use Audacity with Mbox, you will almost definitely need to go to the Avid web site and look for standalone Mbox drivers for your version of Vista that are meant for third-party software other than Pro Tools. If you have 64-bit Vista you will need 64-bit drivers.
I would suggest reading this PDF for further information:
http://akmedia.digidesign.com/support/d ... _32966.pdf
then go here:
http://www.avid.com/US/products/Mbox-2/resources
and look for documents and links relevant to Vista. Ask AVID support if you need to. Their direct links to drivers for third party software have moved since the last time I helped someone with this and it isn't easy to see where to find them.
