Please can someone help me.

I am using Audacity to record my voice for a language course I am doing.
I recorded the entire text but I have made mistakes in the recording, I know how to delete sections of audio but is there a way I can add a replacement audio recording to the parts where I deleted the mistakes?

It would be a shame to have to re-record my text all over again. So can I do this or is it only possible to add audio to the end of the recording and not anywhere else?

Any help greatly appreciated as I'm tearing my hair out here!!

Upgrade to Audacity 1.3.12
You can have both the 1.2.6 and 1.3.12 versions installed on the same machine but Audacity 1.2.x cannot open projects that have been saved by the later 1.3.x version.

When you delete a bad bit there may be a "split" line at the point that you deleted (depending on how you deleted it). If there isn't a split line, then press Ctrl+I to create a split.
Use the Time Shift Tool (F5 key) to slide the audio after the split to the right to make room for the new recording.
Change back to the normal Selection Tool by pressing the F1 key.
You can then click on the track at approximately the place that you want to record the new part and press Record (or the "R" key). The new audio will be recorded from the cursor position onto a new track.
Use the Time Shift tool again to position the audio sections in the correct places.

Tip: to get a smooth transition from one section to another, apply short fade-ins and fade-outs to the sections and overlap them slightly.

When you Export the project the tracks will be automatically mixed together into a single track.
