New sound card. Can't record in Audacity

Post by ILLaViTaR » Thu Apr 03, 2008 9:08 am

Hey guys I've been a long term user of audacity.

I recently upgraded my motherboard to gigabyte board with an nvidia 560 chipset.

The soundcard is the same as my other one, (realtek) but all the line in, mic, stereo mix drop down box is grayed out.

Although when I just press record it records properly from my mic.

I don't get it though. Anyone have any ideas why the box is grayed out?

Is this an "on-board" sound card (built into the motherboard?
If it is, then it is probably not quite the same as your old one, but either way, it sounds like the way that the driver is implemented is different. You should still be able to access the various settings via the Windows mixer (double click on the sound card icon in the sys tray near the clock.
