Hello Audacity friends and users,

I've used Audacity when I had a Windows 98 computer (which was in the past)-- it's quite handy. Then I rarely ever used Win98 and went to Linux. Now I've both a Linux box and a Windows 98SE box. [There's an Audacity for Linux too. I use the nice Linux distro called MEPIS which is Debian based.]

Now and then I rip tracks from CDs and would like to convert the WAV files I get to FLAC files so I can put them on my new PMP. Is there a freeware app that works with Windows 98SE and does this conversion from WAV files to FLAC files?

Yes - its called Audacity 1.3.x

The Beta 1.3 (which incidentally is fairly stable now despite the dire warnings on the download site) enables you to export from Audacity as FLAC.
