recording guitar problem

Post by williamgibbs » Wed Apr 02, 2008 3:45 am

My guitar does not record well. The sound is very distorted. When I record my voice, it is very realistic. Is the problem my microphone . It is a Dynamic omnidirectional nexxtech product. I am using Vista as an operating system. I am using Audacity 1.3.4. Guitar sound more like an out of tune piano.

Quite possibly, but also try changing the position of the microphone relative to the guitar - the sound in front of the sound hole will be very different from the sound above the bridge, and different again from the sound above the 12th fret. Also, the distance between microphone and guitar can make a big difference.
