Error - sound device

Audacity was working realy well. I completed mixing my first piece of music. But today I can't play any of my files. I can open them, but as soon as I sellect "play" I get an error message: "Error while opening sound device. Please check the output device settings and the projet sample rate". I have no idea how to do this or what to do if I find the settings it is referring to. Help!!

I just worked out that all my tracks have a Sample Format of "32 bit Float" and a Set Rate of "44,100 Hz". I assume they are all the same as they were originally, as I haven't fiddled with those settings.

Back again - I have just worked out that the problem is with my computer. My son turned it off the wrong way yesterday and now nothing with sound is working Argghhhhh!

I solved the problem by rebooting my computer. Sorry to take up space here.

Glad you're working again. If you are using an external audio device (such as a USB sound card or a USB turntable) you need to have the device connected and recognised by Windows before you launch Audacity.

Thanks Steve
In the end I worked out it was because I was trying to install an incompatible version of Lame - it kept messing up my sound settings and I lost sound every time I opened Audacity. All fixed now as I have downloaded correct version of Lame.
