Try to shorten tracks for dance use but I cant figure out how to make the time indicator on the bottom work when I hit play.

That's because Audacity doesn't have real time clocks.

Thats going to make it impossible for me to know when to cut the length of a particular track. I tried a (trail) version of Nero and had technical issue, sadly couldnt get any support either. Any advice on what I need? Thanks again for your reply.

The Beta 1.3.x releases have a much improved timer display at the bottom of the window.
