Hey all -
I've been stretching vocals using "change tempo", but it's only good to about 10%.
Is there any plug-in out there somewhere? ... something like "elastique pro"...? (but FREE of course!)
yours tightly...

See this explanation of
Sound Touch and the alternative Sliding Time Scale effect in Audacity Beta.
Personally I don't know of any VST alternatives for changing tempo without changing pitch (changing pitch without tempo change, yes).
The
Best Practice player (Free, Open Source) may be an alternative. It can save files that have been time-stretched or pitch-warped as well as play them, and some people think it gives a more pleasant result than SoundTouch at moderate settings (i.e. that you can stretch/warp further than in SoundTouch before it sounds unacceptable).
