Audacity 1.2.x is now obsolete. Please use the current Audacity 2.1.x version.

The final version of Audacity for Windows 98/ME is the legacy 2.0.0 version.

Recording through Mbox 2?

Post by avhennessy » Mon Mar 24, 2008 3:45 pm

I have acquired an Mbox 2 . Is there any way to use it with Audacity? It does not show up in the Audacity line in window but it does in the Windows (XP sp2) Midi play back window. I have some kids trying to get started recording their own music but the Pro Tools is a little to over whelming for them at this point.

You need to select the mbox2 in "Edit > Preferences > Audio I/O"

You may need to install an audio driver for the mbox2. Note that Audacity does not support ASIO, so you will need to use a WDM or MME driver for it (WDM preferable, MME only if nothing else works).

Also check for firmware updates for the mbox2.

Do you have WDM drivers installed?
For USB audio interfaces it is also necessary to have the USB device connected, switched on and recognized by Windows before you start Audacity.
