Audacity 1.2.x is now obsolete. Please use the current Audacity 2.1.x version.

The final version of Audacity for Windows 98/ME is the legacy 2.0.0 version.

Funny behavior input

Post by Wisperbird » Thu Mar 20, 2008 11:23 pm

I installed Audacity (stable end Beta) on two diffrent Foxconn (winfast) boards.
OS XP-Pro both 1 Gig DDR2 and SATAII drive

One is 6100M2MA here is the sound processor Realtek AC97 and Audacity behaves normally

The other is MCP61SM2MA with Realtek HD audio. Here I get a funny result.
The stable version only will recognise CD,Line and Microphone, as input. StereoMix is absent. (I know now why)
The Beta version doesn't give the option for input selection at all. (seems to be a bug)
Where it should be I see nothing, not even a hint or grey area.

There is no difference when I select Microsoft-geluidstoewijzing (forgive me the dutch frase) or when I select Realtek HD audio,
in Preferences.

I hope the developers can do somthing with this info.

Wisperbird.

I can not exclude that the board is inperfect, since drive activity gives a audible squirt on the speakers. That by the way is why I installed audacity to test if the sound would be audible on StereoMix.

It appears to be the board.

So it only applies to the beta version.

The input selection feature is not supported by all audio devices - basically, if the audio driver does not support this feature, then it won't work and input selection must be made in the devices own control panel/mixer control rather than in Audacity.

If the Device Toolbar is not visible at all, it is probably disabled in "View > Toolbars"
