No input level slider to adjust- Not there!

Post by veltones » Tue Jul 27, 2010 4:55 am

I have Audacity 1.2 and 1.3. With both, after I "Start Monitoring", and play my input tape, I need to adjust the Input Level Slider. There is an "Output" slider but placing my mouse over the input slider on the left side I get a message "Cannot control input level- Use system mixer" My input level shows clipping... How can I adjust my input level? Certainly appreciate. Thanks...

As it says, you need to use the system mixer.
Look near the time/date for a loudspeaker icon and double click on it.

Some types of inputs do not have a level control on Windows (for example some USB turntables and some USB microphones).
