Keeps crashing with one particular file

I tried to find an answer before I posted but have been unsuccessful. I am putting together a new podcast. My buddy came over the other night and we recorded for an hour. Today I added one sound effect and everything was fine. Then I added the intro music...everything still ok. When I cut off the end of the song and then made it fade out I started having crash problems. Now anytime I touch any of the control buttons (back, play, record, pause, stop, forward) it immediately crashes. It also crashes when I navigate through the recording at the bottom. I have deleted the music I added and the sound effect but it didn't help. Now its crashing when I do anything with the recording.

The thing is, I opened an old recording and there is no problem (and that has a lot more sound effects and music on it). It hasn't crashed at all, its only this one particular file.

I am very new to all this and not exactly tech-savy so I would really, REALLY appreciate any help with this. I would hate to lose the entire hour-long recording we made just because I can't figure out how to fix this.

Which version of Windows are you using?

Are you able to Export the tracks - use "Export Selection as WAV" for each track?

I'm using Windows 7. It looks like I can the tracks as a wav (although I've only done it for the vocal track). Should I export them all and import them in a new project?

Yes, export each track as a separate file, and check that they play correctly.

With Windows 7 you should be using Audacity 1.3.12 not Audacity 1.2.
