Now....I've done this before less than a year ago on this exact machine (Samsung NC10 notebook, Windows XP), but now it won't work at all.

Yes, I have Stereo Mix selected from the drop down menu. Yes, I have Stereo Mix selected in my sound devices. Yes I have Realtek HD selected as input/output in Audacity. I play music, hit record, get a line flatter than a dead person. Yet it records fine from the mic.

I also tried the Freecorder plugin for Firefox/Internet Explorer, and even that couldn't find the audio playing....

I'm completely lost.

sounds like the audio isnt playing
or the volume got turned down
maybe its muted in realtek

can you hear anything through your speakers ?
not counting billygz noise with windoze
you should turn that off in your win options anyway

check the realtek mixer
enable *ALL* items so you can see them all
then make sure what you want to play is selected and the volume is max

then make sure you really have stereo mix enabled along with any other inputs you want and their volume is max

you may have to scroll left/right to do all of them

be sure anything you dont want is xed out muted and pull down the fader for the volume too

check that the record and playback mute is off as well as individual devices

now make sure you can play through your speakers
and try the recording again
after you select realtek in audacity

if it still fails tell us more about how you are doing this and one of the official honchos may be able to help

Now this is strange....after I restarted my computer, it works fine.....

i bought spare copies of the oem xppro cd rom in case i ever need a new pc then i can still put xp on it
