Reference: Audacity Tutorial: How to Record and Edit Audio with Audacity
I have tried my best to get Audacity working on my computer. I have followed all the suggestions offered by your many pages of helpful advice but I have not been able to get Audacity set up so that I can record Audio (songs) from my tape player.
I have A receiver attached to my computer where the sound is piped out of the computer to the following: In order to hear what is coming out each device, the switch must be pressed for that device. Sound from that device is then heard through the speakers.
DVD/6CH
CD/DVD
AUX
TUNER

VIDEO 2
VIDEO 3
MD/TAPE
I have the following hooked up to the Computer:
KENWOOD Receiver
SONY CD/DVD PLAYER (FOR SOUND ONLY)
PIONEER TAPE PLAYER
3 VIDEO CASSETTE PLAYERS/RECORDERS
4 SPEAKERS
I have most of the software needed for this hookup.;
I have Windows Media Player and I am able to play the tape player and the sound comes over my speakers thru the receiver and through my computer.. I also have iTurnes and Quick Time. I have Windows XP SP2 on this computer and I have Windows Vista Ultimate on another computer. I am using XP now on this computer.
There is no way I can get the tape player to play the tape and then record it on a CD or DVD drive. In fact, I haven’t been able to figure out how to get the sound to even be heard by the CD or DVD recorders. How do I make them hear the sound so that I can record on my CD DVD recorders????
I have key in the Preferences Audio I/O but it doesn't do any good because that makes no changes to the program. I have tried to import but that doesn't do any good either. I must be doing something wrong.
I really hate to go to you this way requesting help in setting this up but I have no choice. I have tried everything. Can you help????
