My Lenco USB turntable

I have just installed everything.

The issue is i have pre-audio stereo phono amplifier HQ Pre-Amp 220 with IN(L/R and OUT L/R) .I put tulipcables in the IN as prescribed in guide.
the other has been put in the usb,There's no device stated in the menu as I start Audacity ; it's grey .Nevertheless i recorded and see 'some' is recorded.No sound however while playing.

Do i need a 'normal' amplifier to put the cables in the input L/R

Most USB turntables will kill the USB audio output if you connect the RCA cables with red and white connectors to other equipment. Either:

- unplug the RCA cables, disconnect and reconnect the USB cable, restart Audacity, then in Audacity Preferences choose USB Audio Codec for recording device and your inbuilt computer sound device for playback device

or:

- unplug the USB cable, set any phono/line switch on the Lenco to phono, connect the RCA cables to the phono aomplifier, connect the output of the phono amplifier to line-in of the computer using an RCA stereo > 1/4 inch stereo TRS cable, then restart Audacity. In Audacity Preferences, choose the inbuilt computer sound device line-in for recording device, and your inbuilt computer sound device for playback device. If you are on Windows XP or earlier, choose the line-in in the Mixer Toolbar input selector, to right of the recording volume slider.

Turn on Software Playthrough in the Audio I/O Preferences to hear what you are recording while you are recording it. Also see USB Turntables.

And if you do use the USB connection, just make sure that the RCA plugs cannot short by touching each other or touching a common piece of metal (I used to cover mine with insulating tape).
