After following the instructions as faithfully as possible I succeeded in burning a CD from a cassette tape. Unfortunately the CD will play only on my portable Venturer player, model DM8300-00, manufactured Sept. 2005. It will not play on other CD players. Why? What am I doing wrong in the transfer process?

There are several methods of burning a blank CD and Music CD is only one. Many software products default to Data CD which may not play, for example, in your car. Look for "Music CD" settings in your burning program. Music CDs can have a number of special options missing from the other formats.

Music CD is a special format that records music in a very good, robust format and very little else. Data CDs are little flat hard drives and you can put any kind of file on them you like, such as Photoshop pictures, Excel spreadsheets, or Illustrator drawings -- or sound files, but they won't play everywhere.
