New PC and Audacity They Don't Get Along!

I recently bought the HP - Pavilion Elite Desktop PC and it came with Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit version of windows.

I have analog plugin speakers (non-usb) and audacity 1.2.6 will not recognize them as a recording device. There is no selection for my speakers in the preferences Audio I/O tab.

I even tried the beta version and the same thing occurs. I'm trying to record audio from my speakers. I was able to do this when I had XP Pro .... anyone have any solutions?

You probably need to enable the recording device in the Windows "Control Panel".

tried that and it didn't work. In my sounds configuration the only thing listed under recording for windows is the microphone from my web cam and the usb mic I use for podcasting. Maybe I need to get USB speakers I dunno

You didn't get any other options when you selected "Show disabled devices" and "Show Disconnected Devices"?

nope the only devices that are listed even the hidden ones are the mics under the recording tab. This is not good! lol I will have to go back to using my old PC just to use audacity lol
