Audacity Forum

Hi, total newbie here. I downloaded Audacity to make ringtones. Nothing high brow. The problem I'm having is that when I open the audio file for the song I want to make the ringtone from it only displays less than a second of the song. I've tried zooming out, but that doesn't work. I've read through tips and tricks, the faqs, perused several pages worth of the discussion forum but I can't find my problem mentioned anywhere else. Odds are this is user error and/or ignorance but I can't find anything listed anywhere else that helps me solve the problem. Any ideas or help would be appreciated!

It's probably an iTunes file or a WMA file from WIndows Media Player. Audacity 1.2 can't open those. Convert the file to WAV in iTunes or SUPER, or install Audacity Beta and FFmpeg. Details are in this Frequently Asked Question.
