I want to record my dj mixing. I use ableton dj software which connects to an M-audio fast track pro soundcard which connects to an external mixer. I have a cable connecting from the mixer (record out) back to the soundcard (1/8 in) to return the audio back to my laptop via the usb. How can I record this in audacity?
so simplified I´m trying to record music from a soundcard to my laptop. and i´m using mp3 files.

Re: recording mixes from laptop and soundcard
so simplified, you're trying to record music from a soundcard to your laptop through a USB audio interface.
You need to select the USB audio driver as the recording audio device. Do this in "Edit > Preferences > Audio I/O"
