Hey everyone I am currently trying to record something using my Line 6 Pod X3 and Audacity but I am having a frustrating problem.

I downloaded two versions of Audacity, and each one has a different major issue. If anyone can help me with just one of these issues it would help greatly!

1. "Normal Audacity" as I call it, which is the most recent download but is NOT the most-recent beta, can actually record my instrument! I can play it back and everything, but it is too quiet!!!

I saw that the "Input Volume" was at 0 so I moved it but it bounced straight back to 0 again! It does this continously, and does a great job of making me very frustrated...

2. The newest Audacity Beta is not doing me any help either. Right when I press record... BAM! A pop-up comes up saying Audacity has experienced an error and needs to close, and this too happens EVERY TIME, I have no idea why it is doing this...

Actually, you're trying to run Audacity on a Windows machine using a Line-6 as a USB interface. What kind of Windows machine? XP?

One of the problems with USB interface is volume control. Depending on the design, it's totally possible that all the volume adjustments are in the Line 6 and all it does it deliver a finished digital bitstream to Audacity which has no controls at all. Does the Line 6 have any volume adjustments?

You can always adjust volume in post production Audacity. You can correct for some minor damage that happened in the capture step.

The Pod X3 does have volume adjustments but- WHAT?!

Okay just now I checked and I guess the "Master Volume" of the Pod doesn't do a THING, but the only thing that actually does increase the sound is if you increase the "Drive" on the Pod!

But that makes it sound bad

You mentioned adjusting the volume after production, how do I do that?

I'm assuming you're using Audacity 1.3.12. Earlier Audacity versions had problems.

Make a recording and press stop. Effects > Amplify > OK.

That will boost the volume of your show the maximum possible without creating damage.
