Hi,
I'm trying to cut an mp3 at a specific point in the track, however when I just click the green play button, the song plays at full speed making it difficult to get to the exact spot.
How can I slow down the playback in Audacity so that I can zoom in on the track and cut it exactly where I want?
Thanks!!

Re: slow down audacity playback to isolate sound
If you're after scrubbing like in a video editor, Audacity won't do that. The best you can do is blow up the blue timeline waveforms with the magnifer and try to recognize the edit points by the graphic change. Then there's the try it and UNDO until you hit it.

Thanks for the quick response. Does anyone know of a tool that will allow me to slow down the track so that I can cut it correctly?
I would appreciate it, thank you!

The Effect menu lets you Change Tempo, which slows playback without changing pitch. I don't know how much fidelity you lose if you slow down a track, then use the same effect to speed it up again.
