Audacity 1.2.x is now obsolete. Please use the current Audacity 2.1.x version.

The final version of Audacity for Windows 98/ME is the legacy 2.0.0 version.

Starting Audacity

Post by choirlady » Thu Jul 01, 2010 12:57 pm

When I try to start Audacity, my computer says there is already an Audacity running. It doesn't show up in the task manager. I tried deleting Audacity and reinstalling it, but that didn't help. Any suggestions

that happens with win on many programs at times
billygs boyz prefer to get it out fast instead of right
so we have to live with these rough edges

possible fix
do ctrl alt delete in order to
bring up task manager
then go to the applications tab
and delete the currently "running" audacity
then try again

sometimes these ghost programs do not show up
then you have to reboot to clear them
adobe is famous for that
some other programs starts adobe to shwo a pdf file
not in the task manager but it is still running
only solution is a reboot

The problem is most likely due to an error in the Audacity Preferences, in which case you need to reset the Audacity Preferences.

You will need to reset your Audacity preferences.
