Recording a skype session
I've just started using skype for long distance songwriting and it would be helpful to be able to record each session. Do the instructions for recording youtube apply or is there anything else to consider? Thanks.
Re: Recording a skype session
The difficulty in recording Skype is getting both sides of the conversation. Skype automatically sets the recording input to microphone (which is what it requires), but to record both sides of the conversation you need to set the input to "Stereo Mix". The problem is that you can't have both at the same time, so special software is required for recording Skype.
The usual suggestions are "Pamela", "Virtual Audio Cable", "Total Recorder" and other such commercial programs.
I found an advert for a free program that claims to be able to record Skype. I've not tried it (I don't use Windows) but it looks like it may be just the job. If you try it, perhaps you could let us know if you would recommend it. http://forum.audacityteam.org/viewtopic ... 27&t=33744
