Making "tracks" in one large MP3 Opera music file

I have several Opera (music) MP3 files downloaded from a CD-Rom onto my hard drive. I burned them to CD's, but each CD has only one track. I downloaded Audacity to help me in making multiple tracks on each file, and ultimately they would be on the CD's. I have been reading some of the tutorials but I cannot find anything "specific" which would apply in my situation. I don't really want to use Audacity for anything other than to have multiple tracks on the CD's when listening on my stereo system. Can anyone help me with simple, step-by-step directions for doing this. I would be immensely grateful.

I probably wouldn't be doing this in Audacity 1.2. Get 1.3.12 from here and install that.

You can install both versions, but only use one at a time. Audacity 1.3 projects will not open in 1.2.

This is a piece on splitting up single long recordings into CD tracks.
