Audacity 1.2.x is now obsolete. Please use the current Audacity 2.1.x version.

The final version of Audacity for Windows 98/ME is the legacy 2.0.0 version.

Hi, when you insert track tags either using Silence Finder or manually, once the track flags are there, can you move them around or delete them? Thanks

I presume that you mean track "labels".
Yes, you can.
For editing labels in Audacity 1.2.x see here: http://audacityteam.org/manual-1.2/tracks_label.html

I'm new to Audacity and I seem to be missing some basic understanding of the program.
When I do what the tutorials says, for example SILENCE a label, it also silences the audio tracks at the same place. MUTING the audio tracks does not prevent this and I cannot find an ON-OFF switch for tracks.

In addition I cannot MOVE a label. I thought using the TIME SHIFT TOOL would work, but so far not luck.

As I said I suspect this is some lack of knowledge on my part. Help will be appreciated.

Thanks, Carbonman

Labels are quite hard to manage in 1.2.x - the latest Beta 1.3.12 has much improved label handling-. It is now a ptretty mature Beta - and for most folks it is a better bet than the now ancient 1.2.6.

You can get 1.3.12 from here: http://audacityteam.org/download/
