just downloaded audacity 1.3 beta for my windows vista.
i have a microsoft webcam and am trying to record from there.
i have my "devices" tab on edit-preferences set to playback: device: speakers (realtek high definition and recording:device: set to microphone (2 - Microsoft LIfeCam).
When I press record, nothing happen. no line starts, and the only indication that the mic is working is the flickering red line on the Input level meter next to left (the second of the pair on the right side).
Im very confused. the record button and pause button are indeed indented.
Sometimes when I press stop I get some message about a Latency problem being set before zero, but that's only when I change the recording device on preferences.
I'm confused. When I press play, the box just highlights yellow and I don't hear anything. I even tried messing around with the input levels.
PLEASE help!!!
help recording PLEASE!

Re: help recording PLEASE!
Try making a recording and then use the Amplify effect - it may just be that you are recording really quietly.
