I have some audio mp4 files that i would like to import into audacity do work on. Is this possible? And if so how?

MP4 format files are not supported by Audacity 1.2.x
It may be possible to import them into Audacity 1.3.12 if you also install FFMpeg http://manual.audacityteam.org/index.ph ... tallffmpeg
or you could use a standalone converter (such as "SUPER" be erightsoft or "Switch") to convert them to a supported format such as WAV.

MP3 is a lossy format and will reduce the sound quality.
Decoding to a lossless format (such as WAV) will keep the sound quality the same as the original MP4 file.

Convert-tune is commercial software costing between $20 and $40.
It uses codecs that you already have installed on your computer to decode media files, so in effect you are paying for an interface for something that you already own.
The makers of Convert-tune are LIARS and I would recommend avoiding this product unless you want to risk being ripped off by these cowboys.
They claim the following awards:
"Brothersoft Editor's Pick"
"SoftWonder best choice"
"SoftPedia 100% clean"
But Convert-tune is not even listed on those sites.
